Why this matters

For a 1-5 truck carrier, broker relationships are most of your lane access in year one. The brokers you treat well treat you well back, and the broker that approves a $750 detention claim today is also the broker that hands you the consistent lane next quarter.

The paperwork you send to a broker is the first impression. Bad packet, late COI, missing W-9, and you do not get the call. This page is the index for the tools that fix that.

What you need on day one

  • Carrier setup packet. One PDF with your W-9, certificate of insurance, MC authority letter, signed broker agreement template, and a one-page company profile.
  • Banking and factoring info. Direct deposit authorization or factoring NOA on letterhead.
  • References. Two or three brokers or shippers who can confirm you ship and pay on time.

Documenting accessorials

Detention, TONU, layover, and lumper charges are paid when documented and disputed when not. The forms here capture arrival, departure, signatures, and incident notes in a format that brokers approve without back-and-forth.
